Nigeria: Cental Bank Governor harps on Risk Management

Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, said for the rescued banks to improve on their operations they must also improve on their risk management.

Speaking to newsmen in Lagos, Sanusi said  the managers of these banks must also improve on their operational capacity, assets quality and corporate governance.

Sanusi, who was reacting to why international financial assessment institutions rate Nigerian banks low, explained that it is only when  these conditions are met that the Nigerian banks would get better credit rating by international rating organisations like Standard &Poors.

Standard and Poors recently rated some Nigerian banks as high in risk management with poor regulatory oversight.

Nigeria: National Orientation Agency seeks support

The National Orientation Agency (NOA),  said it would need the support of international donor agencies in the efficient discharge of its assignment. NOA’s Lagos State director, Nasir Kaka, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that there was the need for international donor organisations to support the agency in the area of logistics. Nigeria: Fisheries contribute $US1 billion to economy

The total contribution of fisheries to the Nigerian economy has been estimated at N126.417 billion gross output with a capitalization of N78.530 billion.

In addition, the total aquaculture investment and capital contribution in the country are put at N7 billion and N20 billion respectively. (more…)

Corruption in Nigeria:ENI SpA to pay $240M fine
