Arik Air in maiden flight to Akwa Ibom International airport

Arik Airline made history  as the first airline in the country to land on the newly built Ibom International Airport in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
Even with the celebrated flight, the airport would be officially opened for commercial activities for members of the public from November this year.

Conducting newsmen round the airport,  Coordinator of the Ibom Airport Project, Mr.  Marco Fenini,  said all among the facilities on ground at the airport are the arrival and departure lounge, general terminal, control tower, car park, run-way and the apron.

He listed security device installed at the airport to include x-ray metal detector, and a six floor control tower containing the latest modern technology in aviation industry.

According to Fenini, the Federal Airport Aviation of Nigeria (FAAN) has approved equipment fixed in the fire unit of the airport for rescue and immediate response operation in case of fire incidence.

“We have recorded these successes because the governor is so passionate and determined about completing the project hence the stage we are.
Besides, he thinks and acts at the same time”, he said.
