Challenges of Nigeria’s development

The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Moshe Ram, yesterday said Nigeria has potentials to be a great nation if it could harness its abundant natural and human resources to achieve greatness.

Ram , who made the observation in Benin City, the Edo State capital during a courtesy visit to the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole,  praised Nigerians for their skills and innovations in all sectors, adding that Israeli with technological know-how and experience would like to partner with Nigeria in its developmental quest.

Comparing his country with Nigeria in terms of endowment, Ram explained that what Israel lacked in natural resources, it has made up for in abundant human resources.

According to him, “Nigeria has fantastic human and natural resources at the same time. The problem is how to combine them together and make a real composition of them. I think this is the real challenge to this country in the 21st century, and how to incorporate these very ingredients that you have in abundance”.
Ram, who was accompanied by a team of Israeli experts, told Governor Oshiomhole that they were in  Edo state to seek areas of cooperation.

Responding, Edo State Governor, Oshiomhole, revealed that in the past, Bendel state had a healthy collaboration with Israeli companies especially in construction of underground drainages in Benin, saying his team of commissioners would meet Israeli team with a view to exploring areas of mutual cooperation.

He listed education, health and security as possible areas of cooperation that the state government would require the expertise of Israelis.
