Election of Okoh as Anglican Primate excites Peter Akinola

The outgoing Primate, Peter Akinola, described the election of Most Revd Nicholas Orogodo Okoh as the new Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion of his successor as an act of God.

“It was God-inspired and when the Lord has done his own thing all we need to do is to rejoice and be glad in it. The Lord has done it in His own way, not by human machinations. It is entirely God’s own doing and my joy is full.”

Akinola who was elected primate in 2000, would vacate the office by March 2010, thereby giving way for the incoming primate to assume office.
