Inter-American Development Bank Water Operators Awards

The 2009 Water and Sanitation Prize sponsored by the IDB and FEMSA, was created to recognize government authorities and service providers in Latin America and the Caribbean who have implemented innovative and effective solutions to specific problems in the areas of potable water, sanitation and wastewater treatment, and solid waste management.

The prize highlights providers that have achieved measurable progress through implementing defined strategies and any managerial, technical, financial, commercial, social or environmental interventions that lead to documented improvements in water service quality and access. 

The prize consists of scholarships for advanced training in water, sanitation and solid waste management; FEMSA has generously agreed to underwrite the scholarships, which will enable recipients to travel and attend specialized seminars and classes at the Centro del Agua Para América Latina y el Caribe (CAALCA), a training and research institution situated at the Tec de Monterrey , Mexico .

The Awards will be presented on Monday 16 November during the in Mexico City during the 1st IWA Development Congress, 15-19 November 2009!
