“The NFF has succeeded in dragging our football backward by retaining Amodu in that position,” Akpoborie, a former Stuttgart striker told, The Punch.
“They want us to believe Amodu has done a good job and as such should enjoy the fruits of his labour. But at what cost do we keep him there?”
“In the qualifying matches, it was apparent we had the players but no tactics. The team was tactically deficient and you can only blame the coach for that.
“We have missed the opportunity to quickly bring in a foreign coach who will be able to build the team by January in readiness for the World Cup. After the Nations Cup it will be too late to bring in such a person even if Amodu fails.
“If Nigeria fails to lift the Nations Cup, the NFF should resign with Amodu because they have decided to sink with him.”
