Katsina State government has put up a special panel for the recruitment of medical doctors in the state. Members are drawn from various health sectors of the state and the academia and they are to summit their report in two months.
Inaugurating the panel in his office, the deputy governor of the state, Sirajo Umar Damari, said the panel was to determine the number of Nigerian medical doctors by field of specialization to be recruited into the state service, based on need assessment.
The deputy governor lauded the effort of Governor Shema in enhancing health care services in the state, and urged members of the panel to work diligently in carrying out their duties.
Responding on behalf of the members, the Chairman of the panel, Alhaji Zayyana Abdullahi, who is also the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission (CSC), assured the deputy governor of their resolve to do their best to recruit the required doctors, pledging to utilize the expertise of the other committee members who are mostly health professionals drawn from various health institutions across the country.
