N18,000 Endorsement: Reactions trail National Council of State’s decision

Reacting to the eventual endorsement of the N18,000 minimum wage for government workers, while Gombe state governor, Danjuma Goje has said that the increased minimum wage will better the lives of workers in the country, Akwa-Ibom state governor , Godwill Akpabio stated that it is now left to state governments to negotiate with labour councils and agree on what the state can pay, adding that NCS should have consulted with state governments on how to meet up before publicly endorsing the bill.

Babatunde Fashola, Lagos state governor says it is a welcome development, but that the implementation could affect states differently as cost of living varies from state to state as well as different staff strength, resources, etcetera.
