Local groundwater resources have a major role to play in community development and poverty reduction in the African continent. UNESCO and the International Hydrogeological Programme have just published a new book which looks at solutions for sustainable groundwater development and use in rural and urban areas entitled Sustainable Groundwater Resources in Africa.
Through a series of case studies, the book illustrates the current status of groundwater development, best practices and methods for its advancement.
The book includes a chapter on Cost-Effective Boreholes in Africa, which draws together some of RWSN’s work over several years. For more details, visit: http://www.amazon.de/Sustainable-Groundwater-Resources-Africa-Environment/dp/0415876036
