Nigeria: E-passport arrives osun state

Governor of Osun State Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola last weekend commissioned the Electronic Passport of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Osun state command, expressing hope that the introduction of the e-passport will reduce the number of Osun indigenes  involve in the International passport fraud and forgery.

Welcoming guests to the occasion the Controller of the Osun State command of Immigration service, Mrs M.L Didel said the former Machine Readable Passport (MPP) had to be discarded because its usage was characterised by criminal acts as data page, substitution, identity theft and multiple acquisition.

“Thus, Nigeria as a nation was badly plagued by image problems internationally as result of these lapses and by extension the public image of the immigration service was badly bruised.”
