Nigeria football: Ladan Bosso gets marching orders from Wikki management

The management of Wikki football team in Nigeria has ordered former coach of Nigeria Under-20 team, Ladan Bosso, to win his next four league games or be shown the door following a poor run of results

Wikki are 12th in the 20-team Nigeria Premier League with six points from five games. To add salt to injury the Bauchi club lost 4-3 at home to newly-promoted Kwara United just before the championship went on the recess for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

In a letter dated October 20 and signed by club secretary, Abdullahi Ibrahim Marafa, Wikki informed Bosso that a decision was reached to give him four home and away matches to win, failure of which will lead to “a final decision on his future at the club”.

The club management also tasked the coach to improve on the discipline and seriousness of the players before the league resumes on November 18.

Bosso has yet to win any major trophy in his six seasons at the club. Earlier this year, he was fired as coach of the Nigeria Under-20 team after they finished third at the African Youth Championship in Rwanda.

The young coach was banned and fined by FIFA in 2007 after he branded a referee as a racist following his team’s exit from the Under-20 World Cup in Canada.

There was also a huge public outcry for him to be sacked when Nigeria’s youth team barely qualified for this year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt.
