The General Overseer and National President of the Apostolic Church Nigeria (TAC), Pastor Edet Eyo Okon has joined his ancestors at the glorious age of 96 years.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Church which broke the news of the call to glory of their National President said Pastor Okon died on Tuesday,September 28,2010 at about 7:30 pm.

National Vice-President of the Church,Pastor Gabriel Odutola who presided over the NEC meeting said the demise of the Church President was not an occasion for mourning as it was a transition to a higher glory.

According to him,”He has pleased the Lord to take him away like Enoch of old who pleased the Lord and the Lord took him away and we should know that the Lord took him home and we are going to meet him one day like he used to sing—I know I have another fellowship in Heaven”.

Also,Pastor Emmanuel Awujide another member of the National echelon of the Church extolled the virtues of the late sage and cleric saying he was an epitome of Christ-like humility.

“A book has been written about him as a humble Apostle.Very homely.Very agile. He toured the entire Apostolic Church in the country and saw the inside of all Apostolic members in the country”

Pastor Awojide said the church would always remember his sterling leadership qualities and build on those qualities for a better Apostolic Church in Nigeria.

Prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the deceased as well as a minute of silence in his honour.

However, the NEC did not give details of the obsequies of the late cleric but promised to make it public as soon as arrangements were concluded.
