One of the sponsors of the Governor’s Cup, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), believe Nigeria can produce more players like Nduka Odizor, Sadiq Abdullahi, Thompson Onibokun among others if more stakeholders declare support for the game.
Head Brand Marketing of the bank, Tunde Shofowora who made the submission hinged his conviction on the enthusiasm shown by up and coming players, noting that they could turn into world beaters if given the needed support.
The bank according to him thought it wise to partner with the Governors Cup to fast_track the process of discovering new players while providing a platform for established ones to aspire to greater heights.
“One can easily recall with nostalgia the exploits of some of our past national tennis players, but we can return to those old days by providing a platform for more players to emerge.
The Governors Cup is a good championship for our players to showcase their skill and we are happy to be part of the opportunity,” he said.
Meanwhile former tennis player and Chairman technical committee of the championship Thompson Onibokun, has called for more support for female tennis development in the country.
