The Nigeria’s legsilators have initiated moves to amend the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) Act.
The ICPC amendment bill sponsored by Hon. Sola Akinyele was tabled for second reading two days ago
The ICPC is one of Nigeria’s anti corruption agency but has faced intense criticism over its ability to secure many convictions.
The amendment of the ICPC Act is intended to empower the ICPC to function effectively in his fight against corruption, and streamline the functions of the agency so that it will be concerned with prosecuting corrupt practices among civil servants while its sister agency the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) handles corruption of political office holders.
