Nigeria news: Governor Akala Campaigns to muslim pilgrims

Oyo State Governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala yesterday in Ibadan pleaded with intending pilgrims from the state, majority of who are government sponsored, to support his second term bid come 2011, not only through prayers but by wooing others to vote him.

The Governor who took his campaign for re-election to the Olodo Hajj Camp in Ibadan also urged the pilgrims to pray for the peaceful co-existence of the country and the state.

Over 1,000 intending pilgrims out of about 1,508 from Oyo State were sponsored by the State Government while the bulk of the remaining individuals were sponsored by Local Government councils in the state.

The governor also announced the appointment of the state’s Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, Dr. Kola Balogun, as the leader of the contingent.
