Nigeria news: Ogun state to spend N75m on CDAs

The Ogun State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives approved a matching grant scheme to facilitate the implementation of special projects of the Community Development Associations (CDA).

The State Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Prince Lekan Tejuoso, said a sum of N75m was earmarked as a counterpart fund for the scheme which has a funding arrangement of 50% contribution from the state Government, 30% from local governments and 20% from the respective CDA.

The Commissioner applauded the positive results of the synergy with other government agencies, stressing that his ministry in collaboration with the Ogun State Action committee on AIDS and the World Bank organized capacity building workshops on the prevention, control and care of people living with HIV/AIDS in 40 communities development department of the 20 Local Governments.

He added that the Ogun state Cooperative college at Ijeja in Abeokuta which is an affiliate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, imports cooperative education on cooperators offers courses leading to the award of certificate in academics and professional.

Prince Tejuoso stated that in order to improve on the business and management of cooperative organizations in the State, the Ministry in collaboration with the Cooperative Movement and Centre for Organizational and Professional Ethics (COPE-AFRICA) would organized a out-day capacity building programme for all cooperative organizations in the State.
