Nigeria News: Segun Oni wins ekiti re run elections

Dr Segun Oni of the Peoples Democratic Party has been declared the winner of the re run Governorship elections in Ekiti state.

Ekiti state Resident electoral commissioner, Mrs Ayoka Adebayo made the declaration minutes ago.

Dr Segun Oni scored 44,306 votes to defeat the Action Congress candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi who scored a total 28,238 votes- a vicotry margin of 16,068 votes

Re run elections were held in 63 wards in the 10 local governments of the state on April 25, 2009 and earlier today.

Dr Segun Oni wide margin of victory was mainly as a result of the decision of the electoral body to accept the controversial results of the Ido Osi Local Government where the PDP scored 15,939 votes to the AC 3793 votes
