Nigeria police declare Ekiti INEC chief wanted

The drama over  the disapperance and resignation of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti state took a another turn today as the Federal Government not only rejected her resignation, but declared her wanted

A high powered Federal Government team comprising the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Dr  Dora Akinyuli and the Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiri addressed a Joint Press Conference in Abuja this afternoon.

While Akunyuli said the Federal Government has rejected her resignation, Okiro announced that the electoral boss is now on the wanted list of the Police

74 year old Mrs Ayooka Adebayo this morning tendered a letter of resignation to President Umaru Yar’adua citting the need for her to protect the rule of law and adhere to her christian faith as the reason for her action

Obsevers believe that the Ekiti state Resident Electoral Commissioner who stopped announcing the results of the re run election mid way was under intense pressure to falsified the election results in favour of a particular candidate.
