The Vice President, Namadi Sambo, as part of activities for Nigeria’s golden jubilee celebrations, yesterday in Lagos unveiled the anniversary logo.
The vice president who came in through the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja went straight to the Tafawa Balewa Square where the logo of the 50th independence anniversary was uncovered. Sambo’s visit was his first official trip to the city since he emerged vice president. The vice president also paid a courtesy visit on the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu. He was received by Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola who accompanied him to board a waiting helicopter that flew him to Lagos Island. He was accompanied on the trip by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mahmoud Yayale Ahmed, Minister of Finance Olusegun Aganga and other officials.
Also, chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos including the former deputy governor, Olufemi Pedro, former minister of state for defense Demola Seriki, and others were on ground at the airport receive the vice president.
