Nigerian ship owners want to lift crude oil

Allow local ship owners to lift local cargoes, this seems to be cry of Nigerian ship owners who are presently excluded from lifting wet cargoes.

 

The local ship owners have submitted a memorandum to the Senate Committee on Oil and Gas for the inclusion of maritime transport in the proposed local content bill already in the making at the National Assembly.

 

The Ship Owners organised under the platform of the “Nigerian chambers of shipping”, a non-governmental organisation want Nigerian ship owners and their foreign counterparts to be engaged in the lifting of wet cargoes at 60: 40 per cent ratio.

 

The Senate committee on oil and gas conducted a public hearing on the local content bill recently.
