Embattled Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole is having some respites as members of the South-West caucus of the House of Representatives yesterday lined up behind him saying Bankole has done nothing wrong to warrant his being asked to resign.
A group of Federal lawmakers known as “The Progressives”, last Wednesday gave Bankole seven days to resign for alleged corruption and highhandedness.
Leader of the South Westcaucus, Hon. Ayoade Ademola Adeseun said it reviewed allegations levelled against the Speaker by “The Progressives” and discovered that they were “tissues of lies and blackmail without any substance whatsoever.”
Adeseun, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, said the caucus had since passed a vote of confidence on Bankole.
