The GPPN has released a document on Priorities and Proposals for Water, Land and Climate Change Adaptation.
The document is in response to the latest negotiating text on ‘Enhanced Action on Adaptation’, being discussed in the Ad Hoc Working Group on Longterm Cooperative Action (AWG LCA) at the Climate Change negotiations in Bangkok.
The document outlines core priorities on water and land that the GPPN would like to see reflected in the text, as well as specific text proposals.
The document also includes two Annexes – the Nairobi Statement on Land and Water Management for Adatpation to Climate Change, and the Stockholm Message to COP15, from the recent Stockholm World Water Week 2009, both of which underline the broad consensus in the land and water communities that the GPPN has conveyed through the text proposals.
The GPPN hopes that the document will help make the case to negotiators to support existing references to land and water in the text, as well make new, additional and strengthened recommendations.
