Security agencies in Nigeria will continue to connive with unscrupulous politicians to perpetrate electoral malpractices unless adequate equipment and incentives are provided, Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Saddiq A. Mahuta has said.
Represented by Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar at a one-day seminar organized by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) on the role of security agencies during the forthcoming
“It is difficult to expect miracles from the agencies with make shift arrangements, temporary logistics, poor communication tools and incentives,” he said.
He said while investigation and prosecution may take a long time, priority must be given to the prevention of electoral offences.
Commandant of NSCDC in the state, Haruna Balarabe, said the seminar was organized by the command to make the respective security agencies aware of their roles in the forthcoming general elections.
