Despite the un impressive performances of the National Under football team in the ongoing under 20 world cup, one it the players midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim, is getting several offers from several top European clubs after some assured performances against Spain and Tahiti.
Boosted by this, Rabiu Ibrahim, has twice turned down an offer for a professional contract by Portuguese club Sporting CP, his agent has revealed
Ibrahim turned 18 in March and was then expected to sign a professional contract with Sporting, but his agent, Bertram Ekenwa, has informed that the player twice had to turn down the contract the Portuguese club tabled before him.
“After they put forward the first contract, we asked for a review. We were also not happy with the reviewed deal and so rejected it. Above every other consideration, we want his sporting needs fully catered for,” said Ekenwa
“I want only the best for my player. He deserves all he gets. He has a great future ahead of him, a fact which the club also agree with.
“Sporting have to fulfill all the conditions stipulated in the first contract with the player so that they could be in a position to negotiate for the new contract.”
The exciting playmaker signed a schoolboy agreement with Sporting Lisbon months before he inspired Nigeria to the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup triumph in Korea.
His current contract will run out June of next year.
