WaterAid in Nigeria www.wateraid.org/nigeria has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Government of Nigeria which stipulates the scope of WaterAid’s operations and area of intervention within Nigeria, including privileges and immunities – subject to Nigerian law – extended to WaterAid as an international organisation. The MOU also outlines the obligations of both parties under the agreement.
The MOU, which is valid for a period of three years, was signed by WaterAid Acting Country Representative, Timeyin Uwejamomere, and the Honourable Minister of the National Planning Commission on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
According to WaterAid acting Country Representative, Mr. Timeyin Uwejamomere, signing the MOU will enable WaterAid pursue its mission in Nigeria
“to transform lives by working with the people and government of Nigeria, to improve access to WASH as an essential step out of poverty. It will enable us continue our collaboration with local and national partners to develop models, strengthen institutional capacities, secure changes in policies and practices and influence decision – makers for enhanced sector governance and performance.”
