World Bank to fight malaria in Nigeria with $300m loan

The World Bank is providing an additional US$300 million in International Development Association (IDA) funding towards Nigeria’s efforts to control malaria, in addition to an earlier  US$180 million support given to Nigeria in 2006

Announcing this at One World against Malaria Summit in Washington DC, the WB Managing Director, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said the new support will help close remaining gaps for net distribution, malaria treatment, diagnostics, awareness-raising, behaviour change communication and engagement of grassroots organisations in the fight.
