Yar’adua foundation organises seminar on child labour

Asabe shehu Yar’Adua Foundation (ASYARF) in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) will be organizing a 1 day seminar on Operation wipe out Child Street Trading and Child Labour as follows:

Date: – Friday June 19th 2009

Venue: – Nigerian Union of Journalist’s Conference Hall, Ikeja

Time: – 9.30 am

The seminar is part of the foundation’s Child Rights Advocacy, packaged as a campaign against Child Street Trading and Child Labour

The ugly trend of school age children hawking wares in the streets, market places and in between moving vehicles along high ways is very disheartening. It is most embarrassing as these children are seen hawking during school hours.

Also the case of under age children being kept out of school to be used as house servants and babysitters is very unfortunate. This is against the laudable efforts of both the federal and state governments to ensure that every Nigerian child is in school, healthy, free and save.
